Biography
Dr. Isaiah McKinnon has more than 39 years of experience in the public and private sector, education, law enforcement and private security. Since his retirement as Chief of Police of the City of Detroit, he has continued to educate more than 4 million television viewers on Personal Safety on his WDIV-TV program, "Stay Safe With Ike." Additionally, his Motivational, Inspirational, Educational presentations are heard by audiences nationally.
Serving as Chief Executive Officer of a 4,700 person operation, McKinnon successfully reorganized, restructured and revitalized the Detroit Police Department and fostered a working relationship with the general community of Detroit, federal agencies, regional law enforcement counterparts and the media.
His unorthodox approach to monitoring crime within the city of Detroit included meeting with rival gang members to successfully negotiate a truce, and his heroic efforts to talk distraught individuals from the Belle Isle bridge and People Mover.
