Haiti Hope Fund

Description

Hope - it's one little thing that's missing from the eyes of thousands of children in Haiti who deal every day with poverty, hunger, and hopelessness. In the midst of the daily struggle for existence, only 41% of Haitian children will ever attend school beyond 5th grade, and fewer than 21% will graduate from high school. That leaves more than 3 million college-aged children with little or no education at all.

We are looking to tomorrow. Where will tomorrow's leaders come from? The Haiti Hope Fund is actively involved in training and equipping leaders who will transform Haitian communities and eliminate poverty for the next generations.

The Haiti Hope Fund (formerly known as the International Christian Education Fund) was founded in 1994 by Drs. Ivah and Harold Heneise, American Baptist missionaries to Haiti. Ivah and Harold first arrived in Haiti in 1947 with a vision to build what would later be known as the Haitian Baptist Theological Seminary. Through the years the Seminary trained hundreds of church leaders, many of whom went on to become pastors in Haiti, the Dominican Republic, the United States, and Canada. In 1994 the Seminary transformed into a full university - Université Chrétienne du Nord d'Haïti (UCNH, or North Haiti Christian University). Now offering degrees in Theology, Agriculture, Business, and Fine Arts, the University is at the core of our leadership training programs. Hundreds of bright young leaders have received their training at UCNH, many going on to pursue higher degrees, great careers, and positions of leadership.
