This site is the community for people that fear, are disgusted by, and generally dislike butterflies (and moths). While there is no official name for the phobia of butterflies, it has been linked to Mottephobia (Fear of Moths), or a name such as Lepidopterophobia (based on Lepidopterans - the order of insects including butterflies, moths, etc.). After someone I know told me about their fear of butterflies, I did some research only to discover it's not as uncommon as I thought. I asked around and received great comments on how people could not believe they were not alone in their fears. I asked if there was interest in having a place to go to and the response was YES. So I decided to turn this idea into a reality for them.
People have different 'reasons' for their phobia, some of which include the erratic flight patterns, the actual colors and images on them, their size, and even the feel of them. It's key to note that phobias are irrational fears. People that fear them or anything else (heights, spiders, etc), and do not need to explain themselves.
