What is HWCP?
To manage the regeneration of the area, local residents set up HWCP. It is a limited company and a registered charity, and is run by a Board of Directors made up of local residents (elected by local people) and organisations.
'HWCP is a powerful voice for Hartcliffe and Withywood. It brings views together, promotes a positive image for the area, challenges stereotypes and encourages active participation in the democratic process.'
Hartcliffe and Withywood Community Partnership (HWCP) was established in 1998 to lead the regeneration and renewal of the local area. It is responsible for managing the 'Working Together for Change' Single Regeneration Budget Round 5 (SRB5) scheme, the largest in the South West, and for Neighbourhood Renewal in the area. In June 2002, HWCP held community elections and 4,370 people voted ten local residents to the board of HWCP, a 34% turnout.
