Title

Huron Valley Travel - For Escorted Tours and Travel Packages

Description

Huron Valley Travel, Inc. (HVT) was one of the first travel agencies in Michigan, founded in Ann Arbor in 1961 as Hodges Travel. The agency was purchased and renamed by the Huron Valley Bank (now Comerica), then sold in 1977 to a group of local investors. Eight years later, John Kosta purchased the business. Since 1985 HVT has grown from $1 million in sales to more than $7 million in 1998 and despite 9/11, the business continues to do very well today.

Before acquiring HVT John had more than 20 years of personal travel experience while employed by IBM, GE, and ADP. John believed he could build a travel company that would do a better job and he has. Under his tutelage, Huron Valley Travel has grown to now serve 120 local corporations, more than 7,000 vacation clients, and more than 400 custom Excursions travelers each year.

In 1987, HVT was designated the exclusive tour provider for the Ann Arbor Flower & Garden Show, and handled the arrangements for 37 separate tour groups and garden club visits. Huron Valley Travel offered its first garden tour to England three years later.
