About the Review
First published in 1982, Humane Studies Review fosters interdisciplinary research and inquiry in the classical liberal intellectual tradition of individual rights and free markets.
The Institute for Humane Studies publishes Humane Studies Review as part of its mission to fulfill the vision of its founder, F.A. "Baldy" Harper. Harper sought to create an institution that would further our understanding of the conditions necessary for a free and prosperous society. Convinced that rich understanding can only be achieved through interdisciplinary study, he set out to nurture a vibrant and productive community of scholars in the "humane sciences"–those disciplines whose subject is human action, from economics to philosophy, and political science to literature.
