- A little about myself. My name is Carl Gilbertson. I have been interested in space for as long as I can remember. I recall being glued to the TV watching with fascination NASA's manned space program. Thus I became involved in amateur astronomy at a tender age as well, but I had to content myself with an old pair of binoculars for quite a time. Then I found out the father of one of my school friends had a telescope, HEAVEN!
