Rae Shagalov is a Jewish artist, writer and master calligrapher, currently living in Los Angeles, who has been developing and refining her craft for over 20 years. She has attended hundreds of classes on Jewish wisdom, taught by many of the leading teachers of our time in the United States and Israel. She has a unique talent of creating, on the spot, a calligraphic artwork that gives over the essence of the deep wisdom that was taught in each class, in a beautifully distinctive and intriguing way.
Most of the pages are also illustrated with engaging sketches of Jewish culture and a unique style of graphic interpretation of Jewish mysticism that the artist calls, "spiritual architecture."
In her sketchbooks is a rare and extraordinary journey of a Jewish artist's spiritual journey through time. Over 1,300 pages of lively and engaging calligraphic notes contain Jewish wisdom from hundreds of Torah, mysticism and kabbalah classes on every major theme in Judaism. These calligraphic pages are, for the most part, copies of actual notes written during the classes.
