Jason was born and raised in Oakland, Maryland. In 1996 he went on a short term missions trip to Sucre, Bolivia, where he planned on staying for a year. He soon understood that God had called him to dedicate his life to the spread of the Gospel. Jason extended his stay, and after meeting Norah in 1997 in the Theological Seminary, they married in 1998. Norah is from La Paz, Bolivia. After two years of marriage, Erynn was born in March 2000, and Jordan was born in January 2004.
