- In July 2006, HCCC celebrated a milestone—40 years of excellence in education. It was in the 1960s that the State University of New York Master Plan identified Herkimer County as a potential community college site, a location and a community that showed great promise to support such an important endeavor. It was the commitment of a small upstate New York community that began a unique and very special story.
