There are as many as 2,000 acupuncture points on the human body, which are connected by 20 pathways called meridians. These meridians conduct energy or qi (pronounced "chi"), between the surface of the body and it's internal organs. Research shows that stimulation of certain points prompts the release of certain hormones and chemicals that can reduce pain, regulate the endocrine system, and calm the nervous system to regain balance or homeostasis necessary for restoring health to the mind and body.
