Hello, my name is Nancy Chance and I first wrote to Heath in September 2003 and since that time he and I have become good friends. I am also a Chaplain and have been helping Heath put together his clemency application.
Heath has a wonderful personality, he cares deeply about others and does all he can to relate to others pain and to help them. With the help of God and his faith, Heath has been able to overcome the effects of most of the abuse even in the prison environment. Of course, Heath also has moments when he feels so much loss, he can never give back what was taken, and just a brokeness from being apart from those that love him. Anyone that has been abused for long periods can appreciate the effort and strength it's taken for Heath to sort through his life and find answers not only for himself, but to help others as well. Heath humbly and quietly shares his faith in God with fellow inmates and with the many people that write to him.
