- HawaiianPus.com is the official band site for The Hawaiian Pups. The Hawaiian Pups were a relatively obscure New-wave/ Synth-Pop music group from the 1980's which formed in the New York Metropolitan Area. The Hawaiian Pups were: John Terelle, John Klett, and Tara Shanahan. Portrait Records, a division of CBS/Epic, signed them onto their record label in 1982. "Spook Opera" was their first Single. Later, they released an EP by the name of "Split Second Precision" in 1983. The song "Baby Judy" has been sited by some as proto-techno. While the band got significant air-play on college radio over the summer of 1983 they never broke through to the commercial airwaves. The three members of the band still live in or near New York City.
