Description
The term Hammer of Truth comes from a phrase in William Safire’s novel Scandalmonger:
- A presidential hopeful has taken a beautiful, vulnerable woman as his mistress, though both are married to others. His rival for the presidency of the United States has even more sensational secrets to guard about his own past. An ambitious journalist unearths the stories of the private lives of both, and he hefts in his hand what he calls “the hammer of truth.”
In an attempt to be a modern-day provocatuer in the political realm, this blog exists in order to expose the lies and corruption of both major parties. And while we are admittedly libertarian-leaning and openly advocate pro-liberty, pro-constitution candidates and policies, we are also introspective and take our own to task from time to time.
Originally started in 1999 as Stephen VanDyke’s personal E/N (Everything/Nothing) site, before the word blog had even taken a foothold on the Internet, the site evolved towards a more politically-focused blog. As VanDyke began writing for a larger political site — WatchBlog — the Hammer of Truth was born as a dedicated blog to free markets, liberty, and political reform.
