This site is Saitou Hajime and Shinsengumi specific. The way my interest in Saitou/Shinsengumi came about was through my interest in anime. I’ve been a long time anime addict where my first anime was “Astroboy” and the Super Robot series like “Voltes V” and “Daimos”. I’m not –that- old, but they had re-runs when I was a kid. Interestingly enough back in 1997, I avoided watching Rurouni Kenshin like the plague simply because I was into romance, sports and Mecha anime and there was too much going on at the moment and RK just got pushed back and back and back… Until I watched almost every anime I could care for and was forced out of boredom in 2003, to pull out old titles and thus the addiction to Saitou Hajime began… I was so UPSET when he “died”. LOL! I watched through the whole third season of RK looking for him, as you can guess, I missed the short blurb of him with Chou at the end of the Kyoto arc. LOL! Oh well… At least it got me writing and trying to find out more. That’s how I stumbled into ff.net and adultfanfiction.net and some yahoo groups like “Miburo” which branched off into SHQ after Miburo closed. Luckily enough the interest in the Shinsengumi was at it’s full height during this time with pending release of Peace Maker Kurogane and then sustained furthermore by the Taiga drama Shinsengumi by NHK.
So… Hajime no Kizu has been around for quite a while. At least two years, a few months after the Shinsengumi Database was put up, I made a mini-shrine. It was a sub-domain of that site called http://hajime.shinsengumidb.com. During the time it only had seven pages at most, it was a mini-site that was static for the most part. Some of that content were transferred here and some taken out.
In November of 2004, I decided to register the name Hajimenokizu.com. Yes that’s my pen name! During the time, I bought it for myself, to contain various interest (not necessarily “Saitou” nor “Shinsengumi”) and wasn’t really thinking of trying to make it a big site. Just a corner to satisfy my ego. LOL! If I had known that I’d turn more serious in website building and focus on Saitou and the Shinsengumi as a subject matter, I’d probably have gone for a better name. As proof of this, I really didn’t make push for content until February 2005. Simply I was too busy with so many other things like journals and RPGs, surviving RL crisis one after another. LOL! But anyway, I kind of realized my time was better spent in making a decent website about popular renditions of Saitou and the Shinsengumi, than my other past time activities and that the past years with RK already ten years old, I can count in one hand the specific Saitou fansites left and my favorite site of all disappeared from the net. If you are a fan of RK Saitou, then most probably you’ve heard of “Miburo.com”… That’s when I decided… Nope, the Net needs more! So here it is, a creature that kind of ran away from me. Hehehe…
