All about Hackwriters. Real people real lives. The online portfolio of good writing whether fiction, travel, comment or lifestyles. Hackwriters is a free internet magazine devoted to interesting writing, on any subject. It is completely independent. It has no bias. We do not pay any fees for work published, but aim to offer a forum of quality work by new or unpublished writers, or by established writers wishing to say something different or branch out. If you have something to say, we want to hear it. See submissions. Writers tend to use the magazine to build a credible portfolio of work to get paid work elsewhere. Several have gon on to write books, especially travel books.
Nine years ago when we started Hackwriters it was the world's hardest thing to get writers to commit to it. Now, readers realise that with nothing but good writing, a great archive and a huge range of contributors right across the globe, it is a magazine to look forward to.
We are diverse, more's the point Hackwriters is defined by it's excellent travel writing, incisive lifestyle pieces, political and social commentary as well as innovative fiction. Every month we have some committed columnists who never miss a deadline, such as the American sports/politics writer James Campion, and lifestyle regulars like James Skinner, all who bring their unique perspectives to their quarters of the globe. We are based at the University of Portsmouth and centered around the undergrad and post-grad creative writing programmes.
