About Mike

I've been interested in photography for a long time. In high school, I was a photographer for both the newspaper and the yearbook. In college, I was an engineering major at UC Berkeley so I didn't have much time to pursue my interest in photography or much of anything else. I've been more serious about the hobby for about 3 years now.

When I look at other photographers' work, I always want to know what equipment they use, so I'll tell you what I use. I primarily use a Nikon N80 with an assortment of lenses. My latest lens addition is the Nikkor 70-180mm Micro Zoom which I put to good use in Vancouver . I'm also quite fond of my 24mm Nikkor. Before switching to the Nikon in 2001, I used a Canon F1N. While the Canon produced excellent quality images, the difficulties in finding lenses and accessories for a discontinued camera line, along with the lure of the snazzy new features available on more modern cameras, convinced me to switch.

I also own a Pentax 645N system. While the Pentax is a joy to use, its weight combined with my lack of a dedicated slide scanner for it are leading me to use my 35mm gear more and more.
