Nestled in the shadow of the Hottentots Holland Mountains, you will find the unique holiday village of Gordon's Bay. Though its harbour is small in size it is well-known as an angling and boating resort. Up on the hill behind the village you will see white stones arranged as the letters "G.B." and an anchor symbol which actually refer to General Botha, the name of the training college for merchant navy officers, not the town named after Colonel Gordon, commander of the Cape garrison in the late 18th century.
The scenic, winding coastal road which joins Gordon's Bay to Cape Hangklip is one of the most spectacular you will find, and it has recently been resurfaced making it an absolute pleasure to drive on. Not purely scenic, from July to November you will undoubtedly see the Southern Right Whales, the gaints of the sea, frollicking in the bay.
The climate is typical of the mediterranean region, with a winter rainfall and mild sea and air temperature throughout the year.
