Evan Kohlmann is an International Terrorism Consultant with years of experience tracking Al-Qaida and other contemporary terrorist movements. In the course of his research, Mr. Kohlmann has traveled overseas to interview prominent Al-Qaida leaders and has amassed one of the largest digital databases in the world of terrorist communiqués and multimedia. During that time, he has also lectured and given briefings to a diverse collection of law enforcement and intelligence bodies--including the U.S. Department of Defense, the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), the Department of Justice, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Mr. Kohlmann holds a degree in International Politics from the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service (Georgetown University), and a J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. He is also the recipient of a certificate in Islamic studies from the Prince Alwaleed bin Talal Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding (CMCU) at Georgetown University.
Kohlmann works as an investigator and consultant to the Nine Eleven Finding Answers (NEFA) Foundation. He has served as an approved expert witness in various terrorism matters, including most recently for U.S. federal prosecutors in United States v. Uzair Paracha (U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, November 2005) and on behalf of British crown prosecutors in Regina v. Singh (February 2006). Kohlmann has also testified as an expert witness at the request of international war crimes investigators, most recently before the Bosnia-Herzegovina Supreme Court during International Prosecutors v. Abduladhim Maktouf (June 2005). Mr. Kohlmann has been a frequent expert guest on nationally televised news programs and is currently featured as an on-air terrorism analyst for NBC News. He is also a regular contributor to The Counterterrorism Blog, "the first multi-expert blog dedicated solely to counterterrorism issues."
