- Black people within the diaspora have come a far way. The journey from the replanting of our roots from Africa to the Americas, through colonialism, and now post-colonialism has been long. Still there is much farther to go and the obstacles set up before us are countless. In the developed societies of the Americas, blacks remain firmly at the bottom of the social and economic pyramid; we remain the poster child for the dispossessed, the oppressed, and the discriminated. Let us, together, spearhead the awakening and enlightenment of black people [poor, oppressed, and dispossessed] in the diaspora of the Americas. We are the wailers crying for liberation and human development; seeking the unification and development of black people in the diaspora through intellectual dissent; voicing the need for the development of a black business class in the industrial Americas; struggling for civil rights and liberties, and social and economic justice without recourse to religious belief in some supernatural entity.
