About the Author - Liz Miller

Liz Miller became an in-line skating missionary in the Summer of 1991, after discovering it was a great way to have fun and get exercise at the same time. She now spends her at-home weekends teaching for several Bay Area communities as a certified FIT and Level II IISA/ICP instructor, teaching both group and private lessons.(See skating credentials for more details.) Liz also works full time as a contract technical writer for San Francisco Bay Area businesses and Information Technology groups.

Since 1980, Liz has relied heavily on weight training to build and maintain a foundation of strength for all of her athletic pursuits. Ready to prioritize stretching in 2000, she added Yoga with equal zest and consistency. Two years later, she discovered how to use Pilates on a Yoga mat and while lifting light weights to build core strength and stability that directly benefited her skating, skiing and other favorite active sports. Along with a variety of aerobic activities both on and off skates, she now thrives on a weekly training program of 3-5 Yoga sessions, 2 Pilates sessions, and 2 weight lifting sessions, each lasting 45 minutes or more.

Liz's fitness goals grew from a love of skating, skiing, backpacking, weight training, scuba diving and dance. Since moving to northern California in 1983, she and Dan head up to the High Sierra ranges every other weekend year round to indulge in one or more of their favorite "active relaxation" pastimes.
