Rob and Wendy visit his family in Connecticut every year for the Litchfield Road Race. After the race, the two visit Rob's best friend, Eric Budney, at his lake house. Eric owns a small motorboat, and Rob, Wendy, Eric and his girlfriend Paula always take a ride in the boat around the lake. This past trip in June of 2008, the weather was not on Rob's side. As they drove to the lake, one of those intense thunderstorms rolled in.
