Donald Trump Wants to Bring Monopoly to TV
Donald Trump, whose reality television show The Apprentice airs on NBC, is developing a new series based on the board game Monopoly. Trump has partnered with game publisher Hasbro and documentary filmmaker R.J. Cutler; no network has yet picked up the show. This would be the second time that Monopoly made its way to television. A 1990 Monopoly game show created by Merv Griffin only lasted 13 weeks.
Trivial Pursuit Trial Underway
David Wall claims that he had the idea for Trivial Pursuit -- and that one of the men credited with the game's design, Christopher Haney, stole the idea from him after a conversation the two had when picked Wall up as a hitchiker in Nova Scotia, Canada. Wall filed suit in 1994, but the trial only recently started; legal manuvering is blamed for the delay. Trivial Pursuit, first published in 1982, has sold tens of millions of copies worldwide. More than 20 million copies were sold in 1984 alone. According to one report, the trial is expected to last eight months.
