In 1867, Germanischer Lloyd (GL) was founded as a maritime classification society, entering the oil & gas segment in 1976. In April 2009 GL merged with Noble Denton (UK) [ http://www.rigzone.com/NEWS/article.asp?a_id=74583 ], an engineering consultancy providing services to the marine and offshore oil & gas industry. Noble Denton was founded in 1904 by Captain Pedder to undertake technical assurance and project execution of complex marine operations in London. In 1961 Captain Noble and Mr Denton successfully expand the business with the combination of seafaring skills and gas engineering into the North Sea and over 1970’s built up its global reputation by opening offices in the Far East, Brazil, USA, UAE and Norway. In the past decade, Noble Denton had grown its service portfolio by acquiring Martech Unlimited Inc.(US)in 2003 , BOMEL Ltd.
