Description

dates back over 70 years when the original chemists, Frederick Franklin and T. Edward Aldam, invented an easily-replaceable oil filtering element at their laboratory in Providence, RI. Automotive oil filters of various types had been on the market for nearly ten years, yet were difficult to install, change and clean. Franklin and Aldam, whose last name combination gave rise to the company name, set out to solve these problems with their revolutionary filters.

F40 Oil Filter introduced for "super heavy duty" used in "the largest trucks and some diesels." Cadillac, Ford, Lincoln, Mercury and Graham had joined Studebaker as original equipment users of FRAM

Oil Filter, first to combine depth and surface filtration for high efficiency. Approved by U.S. Army, Navy, Coast Guard, and Bureau of Standards and used in trucks and other military vehicles throughout World War II.

Who really invented the Fram oil filter, by Joseph S Weglarz Jr 11-7-09

My dad Joseph S Weglarz who is passed on invented the modern Fram oil filter, he was a final jet engine inspector for Ford Motor Co, the smartest guy you can know, my Mom told me that she believe's it was back in the 30s three men from Fram came to our house on the South side of Chicago, and my dad gave all the blueprints and drawings of the new oil filter he invented to these men, and they told him they would get back to him, they never did,and stole his idea. My mom said he was very upset for years and years and believe's that was the biggest reason he turned to alcohol. Just wanted to write this and get the truth out for my Dad,JSW.
