- Since 1914, the North Carolina Cooperative Extension has educated North Carolinians about how to improve the quality of their life. One of the first issues addressed was food safety. Today, the NC Cooperative Extension at NC State University, in partnership with the 101 County Extension Centers, continues this tradition by providing current and relevant food safety information to both consumers and the foodservice industry.
