Title
Flying Flowers, worldwide air freight forwarder
Description
It is more than twenty five years ago that Harry Kreiken gave up his position as manager of a big lorry transport company and established Flying Flowers. His plan to start carrying flowers did not altogether came out of the blue.
Harry Kreiken says about this: "Because of the introduction of the tachograph in cargo transportation, Switzerland and Austria seemed to me to have become nearly inaccessible places by road. A freight flight service to these two countries looked like a market-gap. Then I had to start looking for a suitable and preferably a perishable product. It turned out to be flowers, because these require an extremely fast transport, in other words air transport."
The product turned out to be a good choice, the countries did not. "Lorry-drivers had found another way to reach Switzerland and Austria much earlier on, so air transport to these destinations wasn't a success. Then I started to concentrate completely on Great Britain. At least there's a reasonable sheet of water dividing us from it." After Great Britain, America, Japan, the Caribbean and by now the whole world has followed.
