Capt. Mike Furlani had a dream. He saw himself as owner of a very special fishing charter business. So in the fall of 2003, he took the first step toward realizing his dream. He reserved the name Gulf Coast Charters.
It wasn't a business, yet. It was just a dream with a name. But with the name established, Furlani set about achieving his dream.
Actually, Furlani said, his dream began when he was very young. "I grew up on Cape Cod," Furlani said. "I did fresh water fishing until I was about 11 years old, then I earned a little money and bought my first boat and motor, a five horsepower Gamefisher from Sears. So, I took the boat into Waquoit Bay on Cape Cod, and that's where I caught my first bluefish, and I was hooked."
