Description
FLAR is a partnership of the private and public sectors for the international research of rice. Its mission is to generate new technologies to allow the Latin American rice sector to become more competitive, profitable and efficient with low environmental impact practices that propitiate lower unit costs and, as a consequence, lower rice prices to consumers.
FLAR's basic task is to do research conducive to varietal development. This work is carried out in close collaboration with the national programs in each country. Emphasis is placed on research and development of more productive varieties with better quality and lower pesticide needs. FLAR seeks to benefit Latin American rice producers, millers, and consumers.
Every Latin American country or entity that shares our mission and wishes to become part of the research and development activity is welcome in FLAR.
