A new version of FixTunes is up and available for download and includes and big new feature: iTunes integration. If you are an iTunes user and have used any tagging software (including FixTunes) before, you know iTunes does not play well with your files and folders. Updating tag information in song files does not update the song in iTunes. If you move a file to a new folder, iTunes "loses" the song (marking it with a little [!] icon). And, of course, there is no way to tell iTunes to go through a remove all lost songs.
Users would email us asking why iTunes lost their music after using FixTunes or what to do now that iTunes had two of every one of their songs (a good version and a lost version). Previously, the only solution was deleting your entire iTunes library and re-importing all songs (and losing all ratings, playlists etc.).
That's all old news now. FixTunes now has a special "iTunes Mode". Instead of reading and writing ID3 tags from your music files, all data is read from, and written back to, the iTunes program. Fixed songs update immediatly in the iTunes interface (its fun to watch! ) including all song tags and album art. iTunes doesn't lose songs and all your smart lists (and other playlists) update automatically. You can even set iTunes to "keep your music folder organized" and songs will be automatically moved to their correct location. All very cool.
