During the 2004-2005 season, "Extra," always one step ahead of the competition, broke some of the industry’s most talked about stories. "Extra" broke perhaps the biggest story of the year when they were the first to report the shocking pairing of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes. Earlier in the season, "Extra" was the first to report that Oprah had sent an elite team of special forces agents into tsunami-stricken Asia to search for her friend and designer Nate Berkus’ boyfriend. Without a doubt, "Extra" remains the number one source for the most up-to-date and exclusive "American Idol" stories. Only "Extra" sat down with all three judges, Ryan Seacrest and the show’s producers for what was touted as an "American Idol" family portrait. Also, "Extra" made major headlines when they put "American Idol’s" Ruben Studdard on a diet and weight loss plan. During the 2004 Republican National Convention, President Bush’s twin daughters, Jenna and Barbara, spoke first and exclusively to "Extra" at New York’s Roseland Ballroom. Then at the 2004 Emmys, "Extra" was the only show granted an interview with screen and song legend, Barbra Streisand.
With a bureau in Las Vegas at the Hard Rock Hotel, "Extra’s" correspondent, Carlos Diaz, will be the only entertainment news magazine reporter on the ground in Sin City. With Diaz first on the scene, "Extra" has up-to-the-minute reporting from the entertainment world’s most exciting hot spot.

I'm very sadden to hear about your news on "EXTRA" this morning. I love to watch you, Diane Sawyer, and the GMA team whenever I can in the mornings. You all are so wonderful, I love you, love GMA, and always will.
I just want to let you know that when I heard the sad news about you, I went and lighted the incenses on the altar to pray Buddha to bless you to overcome everything; and then, also, I lighted the incenses on my parent's altar to ask them to bless you, too. You are always in my prayers, and please get well soon. Robin, you're very very strong, and everything will be fine. You have lots of people praying for you and love you. Please take very good care of yourself, have plenty of rest, eat and sleep well, and come back to GMA whenever you are well rested, and I love to see you!
