- Evergreen was set up specifically to shred confidential waste paper. There was no establishment in the Southwest of England whose only function was to shred confidential documents and send the output for recycling. Shredding was an add-on to an existing waste disposal organisation and very often no shredding or data destruction of any sort took place. Many organisations didn’t bother to recycle but dumped it into landfill. With the Data Protection Act and Human Rights legislation hovering in the background, it was a logical move to start up a business dedicated to the destruction of the confidential material.
