Title

European Royal History

Description

The European Royal History Web Site and European Royal History Journal are the original creations of Arturo E. Beéche, who is also the Publisher and Editor of The European Royal History Journal. Mr. Beéche graduated with a History and Political Science degree from San Diego State University (SDSU). While at SDSU, he distinguished himself through his insightful research papers and participation in historical seminars and discussion groups. In 1991 he received the Andrew Bell Appleby Scholarship for Outstanding Research in History. One year later, his Seniors' Honor Thesis was chosen as the best history thesis written at SDSU in 1992. After graduating in that same year, Mr. Beéche spent several years working for international organizations and as a consultant to the Government of Costa Rica. In 1994, after spending considerable time in Europe, he returned to the United States to attend the Monterey Institute of International Studies (MIIS) in Monterey, California. While a graduate student at MIIS, Mr. Béeche worked on several projects to bring relief to Central America and to identify the successes and failures of the United Nations' efforts to restore peace in that region. He was instrumental in bringing into his project the cooperation of the Arias Foundation for Peace and Human Progress. This foundation was established with Nobel Peace Prize money given to Mr. Oscar Arias, President of Costa Rica (1986-1990), upon receiving this prestigious award in 1987. Since his graduation from MIIS in 1996, Mr. Beéche has worked as an international business consultant. In 1998 he is planning to return to the world of international affairs by rejoining Costa Rica's foreign service.

We are very excited with the response thus far received by this web site. In little over three months, www.eurohistory.com has already received over 150,000 visits. We were not expecting this success. We wish to thank those dear friends who have been instrumental in bringing our efforts to fruition. Some of these longtime friends have provided us with enormous encouragement. Some have even been kind enough to purchase books, exhibit catalogs and magazines in Europe. Among these friends our special thanks to Ted Rosvall, from Sweden; Michael Benedic, from Germany; Christian Pierotti, from Belgium; and Bart Bosman, from The Netherlands. Neither has ever said no to our constant requests for bookstore visits on our behalf. This web site is the culmination of the love of history instilled in Arturo Béeche by his father, Mr. Arturo R. Béeche, Jr. We would also like to express our deep thanks to Mrs. Ana-Cecilia Bravo de Béeche for the kindness, encouragement and unqualified support she has given to this project.
