Edmund, a catholic merchant during the time of the penal laws in Ireland was moved by the Holy Spirit to open his whole heart to Christ, present and appealing to him in the poor. He sold his business and devoted his fortune and his life to liberating the poor through education. We Christian Brothers are engaged educational and other ministries.
