Equine Guided Education Association

Description

Excerpted from the website:

On a personal Note: "I came to see a need for EGEA in early 2000. People from around the world would ask me if there was an association for people doing equine experiential learning who were not psychotherapists. At the time, my answer was “no”, but the lack of a ‘place of belonging’ for the growing number of professionals offering Equine Guided Education began to nag at me. I believe so strongly in the profound opportunities for human growth through the ‘eyes of the horse’, education and learning that I felt compelled to find other people who believed in the need for an association that would support EGE and work to create standards and criteria that would encourage a collaborative, consistent and quality-based field. Many people came and went in the early conception of EGEA, but their contributions were invaluable in thinking carefully about the future of EGE. We determined through rigorous conversations and research that the horse does more than ‘assist’ or ‘facilitate’ in human growth and learning. The horse literally ‘guides’ us, becoming a unique, and powerful partner in the learning process.
