Description
EMRC (Educational Media Research Centre), Calcutta was established as AVRC (Audio Visual Research Centre) in 1986. It was upgraded to EMRC in 1991.
This centre is part of a larger project of the Government of India – the project known as CWCR or Countrywide Classroom. The objective of the project is to take the facilities of the cities in the field of undergraduate education to the villages and suburban areas of India. CWCR tries to update, upgrade and enrich the education at large.
This does not mean that education is restricted to the narrow sense of the syllabus. It is understood as the formation of the entire human person. Therefore the syllabus of the Centre is the larger canvas of life itself.
