Since its inception, Ember’s commitment to open industry standards has shown through its incessant work and contributions to the standards organizations shaping the market. Ember’s technical management team played a leading role in defining the IEEE 802.15.4 standard wireless chips for low-power and low data-rate applications. Today, Ember is a key promoter and member on the Board of the ZigBee Alliance (www.zigbee.org), an association of companies working together to drive the networking software standard for such applications. Ember believes that the ZigBee standard will be instrumental in connecting everything from home lighting and appliances to medical devices and industrial machinery into a wireless “Internet of things.”
