- Hi, My name is Peter White and I live in Southampton, which is on the south coast of the United Kingdom. I have recently retired after forty years of professional trumpet playing with symphony and opera orchestras here in the UK and I now work as the Head of Brass Instrument Studies at the University of Southampton. I have been very happily married for nearly 30 years to Margaret, who was a professional opera singer and is now the Headteacher (Principal) of a primary school here in Southampton. How's that for a lifestyle change? We have two grown up sons who are both professional musicians, Dan (26) is also a trumpet player and Huw (24) is a jazz pianist.
