Description
Hand painted flower tiles are one of the lines of custom tiles carefully and painstakingly made by Eloise Oviatt. Each embossed flower tile represents the care Eloise takes in designing and producing all of her custom, embossed tiles. A Montana native, Eloise graduated in 1971 from Montana State University - Bozeman with a B.A. in art education. After experimenting with a variety of techniques and mediums, handmade stoneware tile became her passion. In 1982, Eloise Studio was started in the basement of her home.
Tile-making is a difficult process to master, but Eloise has accomplished the task through 17 years of experience and by furthering her education at art institutions such as the Archie Bray Foundation. In 1986 Eloise completed an apprenticeship with a professional tile-maker. An adoration of Montana's rugged landscape and travels to such far-away lands as Africa and Europe provide Eloise with inspiration that is transformed into images on tile.
Eloise's tiles have been published in numerous magazines and catalogs and were featured on the cover of Professional Builder Luxury Homes. Eloise Studio tiles may be seen at numerous juried art shows, stores and interior design galleries throughout the U.S.
