Title

AACTE Education Policy Clearinghouse

Description

The purpose of this site is to promote access to high quality information that will assist users in the study of education policies, especially as related to teacher preparation. The AACTE Education Policy Clearinghouse is designed to help people access information on education policy at the national, regional, or state level. To help users research, discuss, and analyze state policy, the Clearinghouse is structured to enhance access to data from four policy fulcrums: government, policy centers, research centers, and the press.

The site is set up to allow access nationally, or by region: West, Midwest, South, or Northeast. Each region includes links to associated governments, departments of education, judicial systems, and legislation. In addition, there are links to newspapers, policy centers, and associations. News items are added regularly and can be accessed by region; recent headlines also are accessible from the front page. A free news bulletin that delivers these headlines to subscribers is also available. As an added benefit, individuals at or from AACTE member institutions can make use of our Legislative tracking service.

The AACTE Education Policy Clearinghouse is funded by the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education, a national, voluntary association of colleges and universities with undergraduate or graduate programs that prepare professional educators. AACTE provides leadership for the continuing transformation of professional preparation programs to ensure competent and caring educators for all America's children and youth. It is the principal professional association for college and university leaders with responsibility for educator preparation. It is the major voice, nationally and internationally, for American colleges, schools, and departments of education, and is a locus for discussion and decision-making on professional issues of institutional, state, national and international significance.
