About ECOSY
The European Community Organisation of Socialist Youth gathers Socialist youth movements of the European Union, Central and Eastern Europe and of the Mediterranean countries. It was founded in November1992 in The Hague with the following objectives:
ECOSY is the youth organisation of the Party of European Socialists (PES), works in close co-operation with the International Union of Socialist Youth (IUSY) and is a member of the European Youth Forum.
Our Europe is on the Left
European integration is no longer a goal. It is a reality. The question is what kind of Union we want. This response must be a common one and the left must take the opportunity to develop a project for a progressive European Society which really aims at transforming society. Young people will have an important role to play. Our sense of purpose is to provide a progressive response to today's challenges. Today we are at an important crossroads of European integration and two options are clearly set before us. Either we build a social and political Europefor the citizens or we accept that the European Union will only be a free trade area. Our project must respond to the great challenges of this century: fighting unemployment and social exclusion, environmental crisis, new developments in Eastern & Central Europe, the growing gap between the North and the South.
