Description
The East Sussex Census - 1851 Index is a series of 23 booklets compiled from information fed into a database directly from the microfilm of the original census returns.
The series covers East Sussex [excluding Brighton] and some of those West Sussex parishes which were in the Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of the Archdeaconry of Lewes as defined in the Phillimore Atlas and Index of Parish Registers. Some bordering parishes, which fall into the registration districts covered by the microfilm, are also included. The areas of Brighton and the rest of West Sussex are being processed by the Sussex Family History Group.
The very best has been done to transcribe or interpret as accurately as possible. Errors and misinterpretations that I have been notified of are listed on the above linked page.
