Description

Our dog palace is located in the heart of Montana. Nestled at the base of the Rocky Mountains where us hot dogs enjoy the clean fresh air. We also over look one of the largest water fowl refugees. Millions of ducks and geese fly overhead and sing to us. We are teased by the mule deer and whitetail deer day and night. The coyotes, foxes and raccoons can be a little on the aggressive side so we stay clear of them unless mom and dad are watching, then we like to give them a run for it. We get plenty of exercise during the warm weather chasing the gophers. We even bring a few home for the folks to enjoy. Not sure why they stop us at the door when we carry them up the steps. There are a few of those onery critters we were bred to hunt for, badgers. The folks always think something with lead in it can take care of them better than us. Our house is all indoors, mainly to keep us from talking with all our nature friends. We do have outside runs that we play in everyday, except when it is 20 below. We have self waters that provide us with an endless supply of water. Mom limits our food though. We all agree that she must think we would eat all day long if she let us have an endless supply of food. We'd never even think of it!! We get a mixture of Science Diet, Pedigree, Eukanuba and a Purina brand high protein food. We are supplied with rawhide bones, hooves and dads old socks. Some of the pals around here haven't quite learned the difference between dads old socks and his new ones. They usually are quick learners though. We all take turns staying in the house with the human family. Its nice they have lots of children because there is usually lots of room in their beds. Dad is a big guy at 6'3" and hogs the bed, mom even says so.

Cassidy's bed is the best. She sleeps through anything even our midnight games of tag. Kaylynn and Kourtney are twins and usually roll around together. They are the ones that keep us awake, not the opposite, which is what Mom thinks. Cantor is the newest edition to the human family. He still sleeps in the crib so we aren't allowed in there yet, (although Mom found Rascal in there one morning... not sure if he got in on his own or if he was helped, either way, he looked content). When he was only a baby we were allowed to snuggle with him while he was on the living room floor. He moved around a lot so by the end we are usually left by ourselves on the blanket. So generous of him to share!! All the women get to stay in the house to have their young, they also get more food and even some of the folks leftovers. The young stay in the folks house until they start tearing the place apart. Mom then uses cedar chips on the floor of their pen and eventually puts it in a box for them to use. She then teaches them to use the pet doors like the rest of us. A few of the 'first kids' Mom and Dad got stay in all the time. One of those is Harold who has is own bed in the folks room. Now he is something else, he acts like the king to us all. Sadie, his girl was just like the queen. We lost her at the beginning of 1998. She was moms pride and joy. Mom is still mourning over her and probably will forever. Mom now has Sadie and Harold's baby, Sierra. Talk about someone who can get away with anything.

When you look around the place there is plenty of color. Some of us are the common red and black/tan. Mom got into the diluted colors awhile back. Those include the choc/tan, blue/tan and isabella/ tan. The blue/tan looks like a washed out black/tan that has a cast of bluish-silver to it. The isabella/tan is a dilution from choc/tan and is a fawn color. We also have the light shade of cream running around. They look a lot like Rooster, the yellow lab that Dad has. Mom brought Rascal home all the way from England. He is black with cream points. He is someone else who very seldom gets in trouble, only for chasing cats. All these colors can come in the patterns of dapple, piebald and brindle. Dapple is similar to the merle shading. Piebalds appear like the pinto horses with the larger spots, they can have the ticking which is like freckles. Brindle is the stripes like the tigers have.
