Rainbow Bookstore opened in 1982 as a family-owned, full service Christian Bookstore in Traverse City, Michigan with 1500 square feet. Four years later, we moved into a new location of 4000 square feet across the street. In April of 1995 we relocated into a free-standing building of 12,000 square feet, all still on South Airport Road, within the same block as the original location.
In 1995, we became members of the Parable Group, a national marketing group of 350 independently owned stores. This affiliation makes it possible for us to offer the prices and selection of chain stores, while maintaining the personal service that is our central mission. It also affords us the opportunity to send you wonderful catalogs with coupons and exclusive products at least four times a year along with specials, contests, games and helpful information on our web site. We offer a large church supplies catalog annually.
At the end of 2005, Rainbow Bookstore saw a changing of ownership while yet retaining its individuality and great customer-oriented staff. Rainbow Bookstore is now more tightly integrated with Parable, but retains the comfortable, peaceful environment customers have come to know and love. At this time, Bob and Jo Panter, the previous owners, serve with the Rainbow Bookstore team as employee and consultant.
