Description
Evolution2000 was created during the winter of 1996. The school district where I'd taught since graduating from college in 1972 purchased a computer IEP program from a local developer. Following a hands-on inservice, I tried using it to do my IEPs. Not knowing anything about layout and design or the software that was used to create the program, I was forced to contact the developer and ask for instructions to make the program work the way I needed it to. Once he admitted he wasn't able to correct the flaws I'd discovered, I decided to correct them myself.
That decision turned out to be more work than it was worth and I scrapped the idea of fixing a program I knew nothing about. Instead, I committed myself to learning everything I needed to develop my own program. I searched the web for tutorials on FileMaker Pro, joined discussion forums with other developers and posted specific questions online. It was with the help of experienced users who were kind enough to share their knowledge with me that I began my program.
The program was a work in progress over the next several years as the original design went through several revisions. The final product was completed in time for the 2000-2001 school year. I used it for my IEPs that year successfully.
