About Dr.Rasik Gandhi

I was born in the year 1937 in a small village called Tared in the Saurashtra region of Gujarat , India. I grew up under the care of my Paternal Aunt whose love and affection never made me feel the absence of my Mother , whom I lost at the age of four. My Aunt and other relatives taught me to follow the Mahatma Gandhi’s philosophy of life - to always aim for the high without compromising your principles.

I came down to Mumbai (Bombay) in 1956 to pursue further studies. My dream to become a Doctor were turned into reality by the benevolence of Philanthropist Shri Khushaldas Kunverji Parekh, whose scholarship helped me to complete Medicine studies from the prestigious Grant Medical College, Mumbai.

I started my practice at the Sarvoday Charitable Dispensary in Ghatkopar, a North West Suburb of Mumbai. The clinic charged a nominal fee and was very popular amongst the economically weaker classes until it was abruptly closed due to the paucity of funds.
