Description

Gabriel Lombardi has been conducting research on atomic physics, lasers, non-linear optics, and remote sensing for over 20 years. Specific areas of interest include coherent laser radar, nonlinear dynamics and chaos, quantum theory of measurement, and turbulence in fluids.

In addition to teaching at Seattle Teachers College, he tutors students in physics and mathematics at AOL's Academic Assistance Center and on Tutor.com. He has been involved in online education since 1994. In August, 2000, he was invited to testify by the Web-based Education Commission. Read the e-testimony.

He received a B.A.-Honors in Physics from the University of Chicago and a Ph.D. in physics from Harvard University, where he held a National Science Foundation Graduate Fellowship. He subsequently was appointed a National Research Council Fellow at the National Institute of Standards and Technology, Atomic Physics Division. He has since worked at several aerospace firms in California.
