Dove Equipment was founded in 1967, incorporated in 1969, and, like many other businesses in the Peoria area, started out primarily as a supplier to Caterpillar. The founder Vern Winemiller sold the company in 1980 to Barker-Rockford Company. In 2000, all the outstanding stock of both Barker and Dove was purchased by the joint Employee Stock Ownership Program, making both companies 100% employee owned.
