Title
South African Wine Estate Doolhof
Description
Early records indicate that the Doolhof Farm was originally established around 1707, when the land was acquired by Jacques Potier van Moscroon.
Early settlers in the fertile land-locked valley described it as the new Eden – paradise on Earth. The terrain, the hidden gulleys, streams and open slopes, now so valuable in matching varietal to land, were described as a veritable 'labyrinth' - hence the name Doolhof.
The history of the current Doolhof Farm began in 1995. Of the 373 hectares constituting the farm, careful analysis indicated that about 80 hectares, across several different microclimates within the farm, were eminently suitable for growing excellent grapes for wine making. Hendrik Laubscher has been responsible for creating a farm yielding wine grapes of the highest quality.
