Dominet Bank S.A. has operated in the Polish financial services market for over 14 years, originally as the regional bank Cuprum Bank S.A. The bank's founders and first owners were: KGHM Polska Miedź S.A., Bank Handlowy w Warszawie S.A., Gmina Miejska Lubin [Lubin Urban Municipality] and Gmina Miejska Głogów [Głogów Urban Municipality].
In February 2002, the Merrill Lynch Global Emerging Markets Partners L.P. (MLGEMP) fund obtained the consent of the Commission for Banking Supervision of the National Bank of Poland to take up 100% of the shares in Cuprum Bank through the intermediary of Dominet S.A., in which MLGEMP is a shareholder. On 26th March 2002, Dominet S.A. took up 100% of the shares in Cuprum Bank and with this our bank became a part of the Dominet capital group and changed its name to Dominet Bank.
Merrill Lynch Global Emerging Markets Partners, L.P. is a 400 million dollar fund. MLGEMP is an international institution and its main purpose is to generate an increase in the value of capital by investing in the shares of private, unlisted companies located in developing markets. Since 1998 MLGEMP has made over 35 investments in shares in companies representing many different sectors and industries in 16 countries throughout the world.
